Wood and cellulose production: biomass and residuals cultures
"Except in Sweden, biomasses have not industrial utilizations in Italy or in Europe, they rather in studying state".
We can consider wood and cellulose productions: all tree-like cultures, cut off every 2/3 and producing 10-20 tons of dry material hectare for year; herby cultures poly-annual planted only on time, their culture and ploughing required less energy than tree-like cultures, because ploughing waste of energy is near to the 50% of energy; and the annual herby cultures.
Also herbal recisions (by-products) and discarding from agricultural industries (residuals) are wood and cellulose productions. Filling up by-products (cereal straws, mais polle, herbal recisions, wood recisions) filled with earth can increase the organic substance of the field, or increase their burning power, but these operations have high cost for farmers and high environmental impact.
Residuals (hexaust marcs, pits or wood dust and cortex) have their market defined, i.e. Viterbo pits" (nocciolino di Viterbo); but "to produce energy for 5 Megawatt (Mw), we need 40.000 tons of residuals for year" said Giacobbe Braccio, Enea Bioenergy responsible.
