          Biomass Renewable Energy

The statement "Biomass" collects in itself a lot of materials, with very different origins. In general, we can call biomass everything has an organic matrix, except petrochemical plastics and fossil materials, i.e. petrol and coat, that are excluded from this argument. Most important types of biomass are forest residuals, woodworking residuals (burrs, wood dust, etc.), zootechnical factories residuals, markets residuals, seaweeds and water-cultures, and urban solid garbage.
Energetic biomass sector is probably the most concrete and due Renewable Energy Source available at the moment. The main applications are: energy production, fuels synthesis and products synthesis.
Biomass plants product the same quantity of carbon dioxide that vegetables needs to produce the same quantity of biomass. In the biomass energetic cycle, the carbon dioxide offset is in balance, equal to zero.
As results of technology developments, the main numbers of the vehicle motors running in European Community could use a fuel-mixture based a small quantity of biofuel without problems. The last technology developments allow to use a bigger part of biofuel in the mixture. Some countries already use mixtures with 10% of biofuel and more.
Public transport vehicles have in outlook to use a bigger biofuels percentage in future. In several cities, public transport vehicles already use only biofuels and, sometimes, they help to improve the air quality of urban zones.
